48 and 52" above ground pools are a safer option than an inground pool. They are the safer option for homes that have young children living in them. With the pool sitting up above the ground, you do not have to worry about young children (or other pets that do not know how to swim) falling into the water while your attention is elsewhere. All pools should have a fence and other proper layers of protection.
48 and 52" above ground pools absolutely are much, much safer option than the throw away, cheap 3 foot "pool" readily available at Walmart and other mass merchants stores. These pools are TOO accessible to young children or pets. Why? A child or pet can push on the sides and fall in...and drown if unsupervised for even a moment. The really scary thing about these disposable contraptions is that because they are poorly made and low quality - THE PRICE IS REALLY CHEAP! As a result many of them are purchased. We see too many of these in backyards...WITH RARELY ANY FENCING AT ALL! Just too easy for your child, a neighbor's child, a visiting child, or pets to see and possibly drown in. Sorry to be so harsh and scary about these cheap pools...but we have to...if will save a life and a lifetime of heartache...
Thanks
